The Aiea area is the coastline between West Loch of Pearl Harbor and Aiea Bay. As several miles of shoreline at Pearl Harbor is in the official Aiea area, the whole area is now considered as one. After WWII, houses began springing up in the area, and today Aiea is home to a mixture of commercial and industrial businesses, and residences. The main landmarks of the area are USS Arizona Memorial and Pearl Harbor. A popular place of the area is also the Aiea Bay State Recreation Area, which lies along the banks of Pearl Harbor's East Loch. The park offers picnicking opportunities, and views of Pearl Harbor and the Arizona Memorial. The Aiea area of Oahu has a very high concentration of military and civilian personnel who work at Pearl Harbor or Hickam Air Force Base.
