| The
North Shore is synonymous with surfing, with the winter months
being the peak period when giant waves batter the shoreline.
The waves are the most spectacular in the world. There are a
number of popular surf breaks lining the shoreline, which attract
surfers from all over the world. In December the Hawaiian Triple
Crown is held, which is comprised of three surfing contests.
The place is crowded with both surfers and visitors during the
months of November through April. There is a shortage of hotel
accommodations during this period; however a fantastic resort
hotel is located nearby, the Turtle Bay Resorts.
