Rent A Car is a popular car rental provider with convenient
locations both within the U.S. and worldwide. With a foundation
built on the philosophy of exceptional customer service, Dollar

400 worldwide locations in 26 countries, including 260 in the
United States. Its fleet of 75,000 cars in the United States,
and 188,000 cars worldwide include a quality line-up of award
winning DaimlerChrysler vehicles, including the Chrysler 300
and the Sebring convertible; the Dodge Neon and Stratus; the
Chrysler Pacific and Dodge Caravan minivan; and the Jeep Cherokee.
Dollar Rent A Car is a unique car rental company as it runs
a franchise-based system, where local owners have a great deal
of control over their business.
The
company is headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma and its service
areas include Australia, Canada, Caribbean (Antigua, Aruba,
Bahamas, British Virgin Islands, Caymen Islands, Dominican Republic,
Grenada, Haiti, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, St. Marten), Central America
(Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama), Mexico, Philippines, Saipan,
South America (Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Uruguay)
and the United States.
Dollar
Rent A Car was founded in 1965 in Los Angeles. In August 1990,
Dollar was acquired by Chrysler, which made it part of its Pentastar
Transportation Group., Inc., along with Thrifty Car Rental and
Snappy in Tulsa, and General Rent A Car. General was closed
in January 1993, and non-duplicating car rental locations merged
with Dollar. In November 1997, Chrysler separated its stocks
from Pentastar Transportation Group, which now became known
as Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group. Today DTG owns Dollar Rent
A Car and Thrifty Car Rental, which operate separate car rental
businesses,
and license independent car rental franchisees to rent vehicles
under their brands.
Dollar Rent A Car has Frequent Flyer Programs with Alaska Airlines,
Aloha Airlines, America West, American Airlines, Continental
Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines,
Japan Airlines, Northwest Airlines, Southwest Airlines, United
Airlines and US Airways, providing frequent flyer miles with
every car rental. Dollar offers low corporate car rental rates
at participating Dollar locations worldwide for any size company,
and also has a FASTLANE® Express Services Program, which
is a fast way to rent a car. The majority of Dollar locations
have a hand-held computerized check-in system resulting in an
extremely quick rental car return process.
