Advantage
Rent A Car is a privately owned car rental company. Headquartered
in San Antonio, Texas, it provides business, leisure, government,
and individuals with car rental services in more than 150 locations
in the U.S. and 130 locations in 33 countries worldwide.
The
company was founded by Helen and Kenneth Walker in 1963. They
had just relocated to their hometown, San Antonio, and were
looking for something to start. This is when they found a small
garage with five cars in downtown San Antonio and the idea hit
them. Kenneth had served in the military and with 5 military
bases in the San Antonio area, what better idea that rent cars
to the military personnel. Thus started ‘Three Ninety-Nine Car
Rentals'. Within the next 20 years, the family business grew
from just the military to other customers and markets and spread
throughout southwestern United States. In 1985, the name ‘Three
Ninety-Nine Car Rentals' was changed to ‘Advantage Rent A Car'.
‘Advantage
Rent A Car' continued to grow and soon became a well known name
with a reputation of impeccable service and unparalleled efficiency.
By 1999, Advantage had also made its presence known throughout
the world with partners in over 33 countries. Advantage remained
and expanded as a family business till February 2006, when the
Walkers had to sell their business for personal reasons. They
sold it to ARC Venture Holding, Inc., a private investor group.
Thus began the new Advantage.
The
new Advantage Rent A Car began in 2006 with a new logo and a
new fleet of cars and buses. The present fleet includes Chevrolets,
Chryslers, Cadillacs, Jeeps, and Dodges among many others. Advantage
also offers its customers special programs and services. Among
these – Frequent Renter Program (in which customers earn points
leading to free rentals), Easy Bucks Referral Reward Program
(free rentals are awarded for recommending new clients), Special
Services (provides specially designed cars for the physically
impaired), and Insurance Replacement Vehicles (offering insurance
replacement vehicles in case a car has broken down or has been
in an accident).
